Most studies I’ve read say they use the same or the dishwasher uses a little less.
Dishwashers usually use hotter water so your dishes are cleaner.

I have a Westinghouse TouchDry SB915 Dishwasher, the fan dry function is turned on, but the dishes come out dripping wet. It has rinse aid and everything like that. We have had the dishwasher about 2 years, but its only just developed this problem.
